It’s an interesting market. It’s quite a rough market now due to the economic recession/implosion of the real estate market. But all that is temporary, the main thing I’ve found from friends who have gone into architecture is that a lot of the time you’re designing mundane office buildings and apartment complexes rather than the cool innovative type stuff you always read about. That being said, every so often you do get a project that really challenges your creativity, it all depends whether the rest of the fairly repetitive work is worth it to you. Personally, I think that if you’re willing to put in the effort and time, you should definitely go into it, the world really needs more architects to both overcome the problem of a growing population and help design greener, more sustainable buildings.
