Basically I was an architecture student before I realised it wasn't my cup of tea. Honestly, it does help to do Art and Design-y subjects since they teach you how to communicate your ideas, but it's not necessary. You'll learn all the drawing and computer skills you'll need within your first semester. Architecture is not about being good at that.
Architecture is about picking out a really great idea and making it into something else, whether that ends up as a building or an object. It's not so much about creating pretty things as it is working your ideas over and over and over again until you get something that fulfills a brief. You'll want to give up four or twelve times - it's A LOT of work. As a first year, I could expect to work from when I got home to about 4am if I had an assignment due. There were essays to be written and models to make, but if you have the passion for it, you'll make it work. :)
I hope that helps.
In response to the question before about which classes to take,
I took, a graphics class, while i was in high school, which prepared me for the type of computer aided software, commonly used by architects, and i also took an arts class, and i guess used it to practice my drawing skills.
Yeah! There are loads of software you’ll need to learn how to use in college, oh my god. I died when I saw the list, haha. Thank you for sending this! Also, is your URL related to that song by Holy Ghost!?
starting from grade 9 what some classes be that you would need to take for architecture?
I’m not the best person to ask this to seeing as I’m a junior in high school and I don’t know shit. Idk, I don’t think you need to take any classes at all? I know I haven’t and I recently took basically an intro to architecture, and I thought I was going to suck but apparently I don’t. I can’t really draw at all and I know nothing. I surprised myself and so will you, I think. Usually architects know how to draw, so if you don’t know how to draw, take some classes (which is what I’ll be doing God knows when). Just remember you don’t have to be a pro at it. One of the very good architects that gave a presentation to the class drew lines that seemed like nothing and then when he put it on the computer you could really see how great his work was. It’s not like you’re going to make a painting or something; you just need to represent your work in any way possible. They teach everything you need to know to become an architect in college. Just do your best now in high school so you can get into a good architecture school.
This is a very shitty answer. Any architecture/design students have any advice?
